Faith Morrison is a certified public accountant and Tax
Department Manager with the New Brighton office of Cottrill
Arbutina Professional Services.
In this role, Mrs. Morrison performs tax planning and preparation
as well as auditing services for businesses, not-for-profit
organizations and credit unions. She works with clients throughout
the year to monitor cash flow, interpret actual financial
performance and proactively reduce their anticipated tax
liabilities.
Depending on a client’s tax situation,
she has helped them reduce their tax burden through such
techniques as strategic
capital expenditures and upward compensation adjustments
for owners and officers. For one fast-growing client, which
had doubled its profit from the prior year, Mrs. Morrison
made recommendations that resulted in a substantial savings
for the business.
In another example, she helped a non-profit
agency branch out with a fundraising establishment, based
on her knowledge
of the IRS’s regulations of “unrelated business
income.”
Mrs. Morrison works closely with the
firm’s specialists
who train small businesses, consumers and accounting professionals
in QuickBooks software to provide accounts payable, accounts
receivable and payroll solutions. More accurate recordkeeping
provides useful information on a faster basis, and cuts tax
preparation time.
Her audit experience with non-profit organizations and credit
unions is based on her expertise in knowing the documentation
and guidelines of the tax law and helping clients fulfill
these requirements.
Prior to joining Cottrill,
Arbutina, Mrs. Morrison worked for Thompson, Dugan,
P.C. as a tax accountant. She has over 14 years experience
in the following banking fields: credit analyst, commercial
and consumer lending, safe deposit, marketing and
ATM services.
Mrs.
Morrison received her CPA certification in 2003. She
serves on the accounting advisory committee of Community
College of Beaver County, where she teaches managerial
accounting. She also is past treasurer of the Rotary
Club of Beaver. She
is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Sigma Beta Delta
International Honor Society in Business, Management
and Administration. She graduated magna cum laude
from Robert Morris University in 2002 with a bachelor
of science degree in business administration in accounting.
