John
P. ("Jack") Ellsworth is a shareholder with
the Peters Township office of Cottrill Arbutina
Professional Services. With Big Four experience, he
is a certified public accountant
and certified valuation analyst and has spent
more than 15 years in public and industry accounting
roles.
Mr.
Ellsworth provides business valuation consulting to
clients as well as accounting, auditing and tax services.
For clients in the fields of medical devices, manufacturing,
engineering and aviation services, he has served as
an interim or part-time chief financial officer/controller.
He also consults in budgeting, financial reporting,
financial projections and forecasts, and accounting
and internal control procedures. He recently was interviewed
on television about the roles CPAs have with their
business clients.
In 2004, Mr. Ellsworth received a designation as a certified
valuation analyst. His services in this area are most commonly
required in conjunction with the purchase or sale of a business,
succession planning, buy/sell agreements, charitable contributions,
and estate and gift taxes. In the litigation arena, his services
can be utilized in situations of business disruption, dissenting
shareholder actions, divorce, and partner disputes.
Prior to joining Cottrill Arbutina, Mr.
Ellsworth was corporate controller for a publicly-traded
medical device company with
responsibilities involving accounting, treasury, financial
reporting and SEC reporting functions. His experience in
the healthcare industry includes over four years as Director
of Financial Accounting and Reporting for one of the largest
healthcare systems in Pennsylvania. He began his career in
public accounting as a senior associate on the audit staff
of the Pittsburgh office of Coopers & Lybrand, L.L.P.
While at Coopers & Lybrand, he provided audit services
to various manufacturing, healthcare and non-profit clients.
Mr. Ellsworth is a member of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of
Certified Valuation Analysts and has served as a board member
of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Institute of Management
Accountants. He received his bachelor of arts from Duquesne
University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh Katz
Graduate
School of Business.
He
currently serves on the boards of directors of the
Diocesan Purchasing Commission of the Diocese of Pittsburgh
and Angels’ Place, Inc., a non-profit organization
providing services to single, low-income student parents
and their children. He is a member of the Peters Township
Chamber of Commerce and the McMurray
Chapter, Professional Referral Exchange, a business
networking group of professionals in the local area.
