Lucas Rihely, CPA, CFE is a shareholder with Cottrill, Arbutina & Associates, a Pittsburgh Business Times “Top 20” public accounting firm.
Mr. Rihely is responsible for managing multiple and concurrent engagements for the firm’s Audit and Tax Groups. Of these, he is responsible for developing and communicating tax minimization strategies in addition to providing income tax compliance, research and consulting services forindividuals, partnerships and corporations. In addition to tax services, he has developed a specialty in audits of defined contribution employee benefit plans. In this capacity, he has provided assurance services to plans meeting audit requirements and has helped navigate plan management through Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor regulations.
As well, as a certified fraud examiner (CFE), Mr. Rihely has helped clients detect and deter fraud and assisted victimized organizations in obtaining insurance recoveries of more than $75,000. This work includes evaluating accounting systems for weaknesses, designing internal controls, determining the degree of organizational fraud risk, interpreting financial data for unusual trends, and following up on fraud indicators.
In 2008, Mr. Rihely joined Cottrill Arbutina as part of the firm’s high profile acquisition of an eight-person tax and audit group from S.R. Snodgrass, A.C. in Chippewa Township. Earlier, he was employed as an accountant with Charles J. Loll, Inc., in Beaver.
In the community, Mr. Rihely is treasurer of the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County, also serving on the agency’s Bowl for Kids Sake Committee. He has helped lead Cottrill Arbutina’s volunteer teams for the agency’s annual bowling fundraising event.
Mr. Rihely received his designation as a CFE in 2012 and as a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania in 2009. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
He obtained his bachelor of science degree in accounting in 2006 from Robert Morris University.
