Thomas J. Helsing is a shareholder with Cottrill, Arbutina & Associates and serves as the firm's chief operating officer. He is based in the firm's Beaver office, and he leads the firm's Small Business Services Group (SBSG).

In his role as COO, Mr. Helsing is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm. He and his staff manage the areas of human resources and employee benefits as well as accounts payable and receivable. He also coordinated all of the myriad details surrounding the firm's relocation to a new building in Beaver's business district.

The Small Business Services Group specializes in addressing the challenges of small business owners by providing QuickBooks® financial software consulting, general business consulting and outsourced bookkeeping. Many companies today enjoy the time and cost savings associated with outsourcing bookkeeping and payroll allowing the business owner to focus on the "business" of running the business.

With many years of senior level management experience in a manufacturing setting, Mr. Helsing has a unique perspective on how better accounting tools enhance client performance. His resumé includes tenures as a division general manager and as a sales and marketing manager, including international sales, procurement and plant engineering.

Before joining Cottrill Arbutina, Mr. Helsing served as vice president and general manager of a division of Thermatex Corporation in Newton Falls, Ohio, a producer of high temperature refractory products. In this role, he managed three manufacturing locations (two in North America and one in Europe), employing 30 people. He had full profit and loss responsibility in this role, including creating and tracking budgets as well as supervising engineering, quality control and manufacturing staff.

Earlier, from 1993 to 1997, he was vice president of sales at the Alliance Machine Company in Alliance, Ohio, a manufacturer of material handling equipment. He also spent two years in Brussels, Belgium as manager of international sales development for a division of Vesuvius International.

Mr. Helsing received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Geneva College. He resides in Beaver.
