Thomas J. Helsing leads
the Small Business Services
Group (SBSG) of Cottrill, Arbutina Professional
Services. He is based in the firm's New Brighton office.
The
Small Business Services Group specializes in addressing
the challenges of small business owners by providing
QuickBooks® financial software consulting, payroll
services, general business consulting and outsourced
bookkeeping. Many companies today enjoy the time and
cost savings associated with outsourcing bookkeeping
and payroll allowing the business owner to focus on
the "business" of running the business.
Among
the clients Mr. Helsing serves are a range of school
districts, municipalities and boroughs, non-profit
organizations, professional services firms, and small
manufacturing and retail businesses in many industries.
One client, a French-based company, sends a batch
of data to the firm, which performs the raw data entry
and then uploads the client's total U.S. financial
picture to a secure website online within 24 hours.
The client also retrieves and reviews its data simultaneously
with its U.S. employees, and/or with Mr. Helsing and
his staff, and approves payments and disbursements.
With
many years of senior level management experience in
a manufacturing setting, Mr. Helsing has a unique
perspective on how better accounting tools enhance
client performance. His resumé includes tenures
as a division general manager and as a sales and marketing
manager, including international sales, procurement
and plant engineering.
Before
joining Cottrill, Arbutina, Mr. Helsing served as
vice president and general manager of a division of
Thermatex Corporation in Newton Falls, Ohio, a producer
of high temperature refractory products. In this role,
he managed three manufacturing locations (two in North
America and one in Europe), employing 30 people. He
had full profit and loss responsibility in this role,
including creating and tracking budgets as well as
supervising engineering, quality control and manufacturing
staff.
Earlier, from 1993 to
1997, he was vice president of sales at the Alliance
Machine Company in Alliance, Ohio, a manufacturer
of material handling equipment. He also spent two
years in Brussels, Belgium as manager of international
sales development for a division of Vesuvius International.
Mr.
Helsing received his bachelor of science degree in
mechanical engineering from Geneva College. He resides
in Beaver.
